It gives practical tips for addressing common issues faced by faculty including strategies for increasing student participation, assessing the writing of non-native speakers of English, and ensuring student comprehension of class lectures. NC State’s Bias Impact Response Team receives reports of and responds to bias on campus that may impact the campus community. BIRT ensures that reports are directed to the appropriate processes for addressing acts of discrimination, harassment, concern or violence to ensure due process.

Our office provides diversity and equity training programs ranging from single workshops to our year-long, award-winning Equal Opportunity Institute certificate program. Our National Coalition Building Institute chapter affiliate has received national recognition for its facilitation of prejudice-reduction workshops on campus. All programs are free and open to faculty as participants and facilitators.
